I think we all have an idea of what it means to us when we’ve “made it”, I feel like these are indicators of accomplishing what targets we set for ourselves.
I have felt like I’ve “made it” a couple times, but my feeling of accomplishment was short lived, because I have an addiction to progress. So, if I’m not continually progressing, what am I doing in life?
Not a good way to live. So here are a couple of tips to remember when defining & living your success.
Tip 1: Define your target, but be flexible with adjusting it & time frames for it. Don’t be so rigid that it creates mental unwellness. Sometimes your targets have to include others, which you have no control over & may change due dates for things. Be flexible, but firm in your expectations up front when working with others.
Tip 2: What REALLY does success mean & why are you shooting for it? Are your ideas about becoming successful for you? To show others up? To keep up with the Jones’? To feel accomplished? Provide for yourself/kids/family? To know you can do anything you put your mind to? What is it for & are you killing yourself for it?
Tip 3: Success is defined by so many things. To me, my freedom is how I quantify my success. Can I vacation when I want? Can I purchase a business if a good deal comes across my desk? Can I purchase groceries without my card declining? How are you acknowledging your current successes?
Make it a great day!
